PD Tel Aviv Opened Its Third American Corner, Serving the Jewish and Arab Populations of Yaffo and Tel Aviv.

On February 21, in partnership with the Arab-Jewish Community Center Yaffo (AJCCY) and the Municipality of Tel Aviv-Yaffo, Deputy Chief of Mission Gene Cretz, Mayor Ron Huldai, and the Director of the AJCCY, Mr. Ibrahim Abu-Shindi, opened the new American Corner Yaffo.  The ceremony took place in the presence of a capacity crowd of Jewish and Arab municipal officials, Ministry of Education representatives, cultural leaders, educators, school principals, high school students, and community activists.  PD Tel Aviv has enjoyed a long and fruitful relationship with Mr. Abu-Shindi, an alumnus of the International Visitors Leadership Program. In his opening remarks, Mr. Abu-Shindi expressed his deep appreciation for the establishment of the corner at the community center, a welcome contribution to the area and its mixed population.  Mayor Huldai followed Abu-Shindi's remarks by emphasizing the important role the AJCC in Yaffo plays as an example of coexistence benefiting the residents of Yaffo and the surrounding area.  He also said that Tel Aviv-Yaffo has many corners, but now there is an American Corner, an important addition.
