American Indian Cindy La Marr, Director of Capital Area Indian Resources, Inc., California shares experiences with young Ethiopian high school students at the American Corner Yaffo
On July 24, 2006, Cindy La Marr, former president of the National Indian Education Association and currently director of the Capitol Area Indian Resources, Inc., an NGO that provides academic assistance and cultural activities for American Indian youth residing in the Sacramento area, shared her experiences on "Attaining Higher Education in American Indian Communities" via a DVC hosted by PD Tel Aviv at the American Corner Yaffo. The audience was a select group of Ethiopian-Israeli high school students from around the country attending a summer camp for studying English language and American cultural values organized jointly by the Fulbright Israel office and the Ethiopian NGO "Society for Advancement of Education, the Steering Committee for Ethiopian Immigrants in the Educational System." Ms. La Marr, an American Indian presented the audience with an insightful introduction to the Californian Indian culture, society and values.
